This giveaway ends on July 14, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. CST. It is open to U.S. residents only. A winnwer will be chosen using Random.org and notified via email.

Do you have a daughter around 8 years or older who wants to get on MySpace and Facebook just like the big kids? Well, I do. Nannah is 11 and has been dying to have her own MySpace page so you can talk with her friends like her big sister does. Unfortunately that type of community is not safe for our little girls. Sometimes I doubt how safe it is for teenagers. I could find some communities online but most of them did require some sort of paid subscription.

Thankfully, the opportunity was recently presented to us to try out a new social networking community made just for girls ages 8 and up. It is called My Secret Circle. It is a plug and play safe online community for girls. It is centered around the My Secret Circle Access Key. The key unlocks the ability to Journal, Instant Message, Play Games and share photos with your Secret Circle!

We received the My Secret Circle b.f.f. pack in the mail. Nannah fell in love with it in when she saw it. I love the idea behind the packaging. It is shaped like a heart that you can break into two pieces. One for your daughter and one for her best friend. It just screams Awwwww :)

The actual access key is small and fits into the palm of your hand. It looks like a flash drive but much cuter, especially with the charms. Nannah says she would not mind carrying it around.

I plugged the key into my laptop and the installation was very easy. Nannah could not wait to set up her options page and design her little diva. She was able to personalize:

  • skin color
  • hair style
  • nose
  • mouth
  • eye brows
  • hair color
  • eye design and color
  • hair accessories
  • neck accessories
  • what to hold in each hand
  • background

Her little diva is so cute!! Nannah was also able to add her current mood, favorite color, favorite movie and food. She even changed the My Options Page background.

We were actually very surprised at just how much Nannah and her friend were able to do with My Secret Circle. Not only were they able to chat back and forth but play games together too. What makes My Secret Circle so unique is the fact that it is not a website. It is completely invisible to the online world and that what makes it so safe. Not just to online strangers but unsolicited and sometime inappropriate ads.

By purchasing online access keys featuring proprietary technology with embedded browsers and unique ID codes, only friends can connect on My Secret Circle by exchanging private codes. Once a code is used to connect two friends, it is inactive and can never be used again. Since the codes are embedded in the product itself, girls never need to upload personal information online, further enhancing the security of the network.

Oh did I forget to mention that My Secret Circle does not require a subscription? At all. That has to be one of my favorite parts! My daughter and her best friend are very happy with My Secret Circle and I am too. It is very age appropriate and fun. They have already started telling their other little friends about it.

My Secret Circle is currently available for purchase at Justice stores across the nation for $19.99. And I must say, looking around the Justice website I liked what I saw. Nannah has already made plans for us to check out a store near us this weekend.

I could not wait to write this review so I am going to get right to the point. A few weeks ago I was given the chance to check out BufferZone Pro and I really tried it out. I used it for almost a month and I like it! Bufferzone Pro is a software that makes it possible for you to click on any link, open any attachment or download any file safely and not infect your computer. It basically creates a isolated virtual zone that keeps your operating system and confidential information from unknown programs, files and downloads. This means programs won't be able to secretly make changes to your computer or install stuff you don't want. No more malicious programs on your hard drive. This is especially handy if you have click happy children. A nice bonus is it automatically keeps your personal files and documents "hidden".

This software is very easy to use, even for the not so computer savvy. I had no problems at all, the entire setup went pretty quickly. You are honestly able to set it up and forget about it. I did not notice any problems using BufferPro Zone with my existing antivirus software. I have been recommending it to all my relatives. I can not tell you how many times I have had to reinstall my aunt's computer because of viruses. A lot of people use her computer and it is hard for her to control who clicks what. This is definitely worth having in every household.

The Giveaway

Four lucky readers will win a 1 year BufferZone Pro subscription. This will cover 3 computers!!

My family is big on snacks, especially during the summer months. I like to keep a variety of different options in the house. I don't want the kids to be all hyped on sugary junk food. I usually look for stuff that is easy to just grab and go. Thanks to MyBlogSpark, we received a box of the new Nut Clusters from Nature Valley. They are 100% natural granola and nut clusters. We were able to try all four varieties: Nut Lovers, Roasted Cashew, Honey Roasted Peanut and Roasted Almond. My family thought this was a nice change to the traditional granola bar. The pieces are bite sized and easy to just throw into your mouth. The Nature Valley Nut Clusters has become my husband's favorite snack. He keeps a pack in his toolbox at work and even took some when we went to see the fireworks. His favorite is the Nut Lovers. I like the Honey Roasted Peanut Nut Clusters. It was a good mixture of sweet and salty. I found myself eating quite a few while sitting at my laptop. Of course my kids like to mix all the flavors. They really like the taste of honey. The bags are about the size of my hand (5 ounces) and are resealable. My family goes through the bags pretty quickly so I would love to see the bags a little bigger.

If you are interested in trying some Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters, remember to stop by The Nature Valley website before you go to the store. There is a coupon for $1 off.

UPDATE: General Mills has done of a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of "Nut Lovers" flavor Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters product containing pecans. This action is being taken as a precaution because pecans received from a supplier and used in the product may be tainted with salmonella. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the "Nut Lovers" Granola Nut Clusters product, and no other types, varieties or flavors of Nature Valley products are being recalled. If consumers have any questions or concerns they may contact General Mills toll-free at 1-800-231-0308
